The Wood Engravers’ Network (WEN) proudly presents our 5th Triennial Exhibition, a
traveling exhibit featuring work by fifty-five (55) artists working in six (6) countries.  Out of
one hundred and forty (140) entries, sixty (60) prints were selected for this exhibit by
guest juror Max Yela, Head of Special Collections at the University of Wisconsin-
Milwaukee Libraries, an active department that preserves printed primary-source
materials supporting research and teaching in the arts, humanities, and social sciences.
He currently teaches courses in Book Arts Concepts and Book Arts Survey. Max Yela
maintains the Wood Engraving Wednesday blog and presented at the 2024 WEN
workshop in Two Rivers, Wisconsin.

This exhibit celebrates the vibrant world of wood engraving, where tradition meets
innovation, and craftsmanship intertwines with artistic expression. Eligibility guidelines
required that works submitted be original prints and primarily relief engraving using
burins rather than woodcut tools like gouges. However, these relief engraving could be
created on any material (wood, plastic, Corian ® , Resingrave) as long as it is printed in
relief.
